Youth Leadership and Action is a youth empowerment and substance abuse prevention initiative that trains, supports and encourages Youth Action Teams to become active change agents in their communities. Youth Action Teams are formal groups of youth with at least one adult advisor that plan and implement peer-focused prevention and community service projects that positively impact their peers and/or their communities. Youth Action Teams can be established in or affiliated with schools, community organizations, faith communities, businesses, agencies, civic groups, neighborhoods or anywhere that youth naturally congregate or are invited to participate.
GUIDE, Inc. currently supports the following Youth Action Teams through on-going training events, staff support and technical assistance, service opportunities and ideas, and financial support for general operations. In addition, the Youth Leadership and Action program provides training, service, and funding opportunities to external youth groups across the metro-Atlanta area. There are over ten (10) Youth Action Teams in Gwinnett County who were previously funded and supported by our program and are now active independent of our support.

Want To Know How To Become A Youth Action Team?
Youth Action Teams are accepted into the program on an ongoing basis, determined by openings in the current team structure. There are currently opportunities for up to 3 new Youth Action Teams to join for the 2007-2008 program year.
In order to be accepted into the program, Youth Action Teams must agree to enter into a 3-year contract and be screened previous to acceptance into the program. All contracts are renewed on a yearly basis so as to reflect any programmatic changes.
